WARNING : Google AdWords Phishing E-mail Campaign

phishingThere are a bunch of e-mails being sent around entitled You’r adds have stopped working! from lperez_bt@adwords.com. If you do happen to receive one of these e-mails DO NOT open it because it is not an email from Google AdWords.

Here is an example of the e-mails many folks are receiving:

Dear Adwords Member,

We hereby inform you that on the 26th of March a email change request
has been submitted to Google. Due to our security settings you are required
to confirm or decline the validity of the request. To do so please visit

Adwords Site

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sincerely,
Google Adwords Team

Toward the bottom of the e-mail, the words “AdWords Site” links out to a false Google AdWords login page. If you have been tricked, clicked and logged in with your Adwords login credentials, your company’s security will be comprised. Immediately change your password and contact your Google Adwords representative or the Adwords customer service number if you do not have an individual rep.

The misspelled title “You’r adds have stopped working!” should be an immediate indicator that this is a fake phishing email but can be very easy to misread. To get more details check out the conversation on Twitter: Adwords+Phishing.
