Google Adwords Related Search Ad Refinements

Looks like Google is testing out some additional new features and I’m not sure if everyone has seen these yet so I thought I’d share. Someone on our team today noticed that for the search “tired eyes” Google was displaying related ads and specifically calling out the related keywords. Below is Google’s response when we inquired.

“As you know, we’re always experimenting with new features and tools to help users find information online. This is a feature on English language versions of the Google search results page in which additional advertisements for related queries or refinements of the user’s original query may appear.

The “related to” headers are related search ad refinements and are based on common subsequent searches that users make after their initial query. If an advertiser has a broad match keyword in their account that matches to one of these refinements, their ad may be eligible to show.“

What are your thoughts about the changes? Is this a smart move for your advertising dollars?
